New Façades installation
Saturday October 4th to Tuesday October 14th

Crescent Arts with Yorkshire Coast College and Hull University Scarborough Campus; photography by Graham Mack

Crescent Artspace opens with an intriguing installation of sound and vision, offering a contemporary insight into the artistic legacy of Edith, Osbert and Sacheverell Sitwell. Wood End, the former home of the Sitwells, provides an impressive backdrop to this collaboration between Crescent Artspace, students and tutors from Yorkshire Coast College costume design department, and the sound department of Hull University Scarborough Campus. Through the combined talents of visual artists, designers, makers, performers, and audio artists, a fascinating and inspiring series of audio-visual works has emerged, referencing the photography of Cecil Beaton, the poetry of Edith Sitwell, and the architecture of Wood End. Experience the poetry of Façade as never before, navigate our virtual artspace before it goes onto our website. You may even encounter the reincarnation of Edith Sitwell.

Crescent Artspace will be open from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 11.00am and 5.00pm. Admission is free.

24-09-08 21:27:49

I'll be attending this:

Soundwalking Leeds by John Levack Drever

an event related to the current exhibition Licht auf Licht by Gerhard Kassner and Hans Peter Kuhn. http://www.projectspaceleeds.org.uk/events_unidd21a_page.aspx

Thursday 25 September 2008
5-6.30pm, meet at PSL

A deliberate walk focused on listening to the everyday sounds of Leeds as they unfold around us. Haphazard by-product or conscious design, the walk will expose the atmospheres and rhythms of the city on a Thursday evening from 5 - 6.30pm, probing at how the encounter is transformed as we traverse the city. Opening with a short talk on listening, the walk with end with an open forum to discuss what was experienced.

John Levack Drever is a sonic artists and soundscape researcher focusing on human utterance and background noise. Commissions range from the RSPB (2002) to the Groupe de Recherches Musicales, Paris (1999).
